Calash was freed from a life of slavery and a certain, gruesome death by a band of adventurers whose path crossed his far to the north of Liedeck. Slaying his captors and freeing him, they eventually nursed Calash back to health and accompanied him back to the heart of the Kingdom, where the half-orc was whisked away by the Spymaster, Gaspard. Having been shown that other races were just as capable of compassion as they were of strength by the likes of Olga, Calash learned slowly to place his trust in others.

Now, Calash answers to another name- Starling- and lives to serve Liedeck, never forgetting where he came from and what evil end he may have faced.
